Flaumira

Story:

About five thousand years ago, an evil and very powerful being known as Kakios was well on his way to completely taking over the world of Flaumira. With his shadow minions, he had no trouble conquering the separate elemental countries (Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Lightning, Ice, Metal, Animal, Light, and Dark) until only the water country was left. The water country put up a valient fight and was able to keep Kakios and his army at bay for many months, but their forces were weakening and it seemed that it was only a matter of time before Kakios won and the whole world was his.

Saddened by the state of the world and angered at what Kakios had done, the great and powerful elemental dragon god Photios decided that it was time to put a stop to Kakios. But because he was a god, he wasn't allowed to personally intervene in the world of mortals. So he split his elemental powers into ten different essences and gave one each to ten different humans whom he considered worthy enough to wield his power. To ensure that the humans (who were not used to wielding magic) wouldn't be overwhelmed by his power, he also paired them with a dragon of the same element that they were given to help lessen the strain the magic put on them.

Together with their partner dragons, the chosen humans were able to defeat Kakios' army and by combining their elemental magic together as one, were able seal Kakios away in an alternate dimension. The world was finally free of the evil Kakios! The world rejoiced and the ten humans and their partner dragons were heralded as heroes. The ten countries were rebuilt to their former glory over time, flourishing in their worldwide peace.

Sadly, nothing lasts forever and it wasn't five thousand years later before Kakios became a danger to the world once again. The seal over Kakios' prison became weak overtime and he was slowly but surely breaking out; spreading his evil influence across the world. Luckily for the world, Photios (who became mortally weakened when he split up his elemental powers before) was able to pull off one last miracle.

Using the last of his strength, he was able to bestow his powers upon ten human children and mark them with their respective elemental symbols; knowing that if he waited until they were older he would already be gone. To protect them from Kakios and the strain of the magic, he sealed their elemental powers until they were able to join with their dragon partners. The second they did, though, the seal over them would be broken, their protection will be gone, and Kakios will be able to find them; doing everything in his power to stop them from resealing his prison.

But it wasn't until ten years later, that their journey truely began...
