If you consider the Elements as representations of the Powers of the various Elements,
and wish to draw upon these Powers for Magickal and Ritual use (whether you think
them Physical Entities that reside upon a different Realm or Plane to us, the Elemental
Plane, or whether you just see them as representations that you use for visualizing, it
doesn't really matter which, as long as it works for you), then it only makes sense
to invite them to attend. As all the attributes of each Element are contained within all
our psyches, it makes sense to have completeness in your Ritual by inviting all four of
the Elements to attend (some see this as a symbolic act of drawing together all
the disparate parts of your mind together to be present and focused during Ritual).
Each of the various Elements can also be represented by varying different entities, from
the Elemental Dragons (the more Powerful representations and to be treated with
respect, 'For you are crunchy and taste good with Ketchup' in the eyes of an annoyed
Dragon!), through the Elements themselves and the Winds of the Elements, to the
Guardians of the Watchtowers of the Elements (one for each Element), which are
again seen as potent forces. It is said that these representations reside upon the
Elemental Plane, a dimension above our Mundane One, and
related to but distinct from the Astral and other Planes.
You may call upon these various aspects of the Elements for use in Rituals and Magick, from
asking the Elements themselves to attend (bringing their Power and protection with
them), through to calling upon the Power of the Watchtowers
or Dragons when there is more of a need during Rituals.
The Table below shows the relationship of the Various Elements and Entities associated with
them, and some of the other Entities that are available for people to call upon in Ritual and
Magick (whether they exist or not doesn't actually matter, for the belief of the person
'using' their power and presence in them is what actually matters!
If you believe in Fairies, then to you, they exist!)
