I Can't believe how ignorant some people are. Today at school, was the day of silence. Its basically a day supporting gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders, and their allies. It's is said that 85% to 90% of gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgenders report being harrassed. Physically or verbally. People who were wearing blue sashes had to be silent the whole school day. People who were wearing little blue ribbons were only wearing them for support, and did not have to be silent. I was harrassed a lot during the school day, by lots of ignorant people. They automatically assumed that i was a lesbian, and anyone wearing a blue sash or ribbon was also gay. I even heard about these guys throwing fruit at a girl wearing a blue sash. This just shows you again how ignorant people can be. Although, a lot more people than last year were atleast wearing the little blue ribbons and that made me really happy. Just seeing that people actually supported made my day. All i ask is that please don't be ignorant like these people and automatically hate someone because their different.
Thanks, Sora.
HAPPY DAY OF SILENCE!! 4.26.2006
Day Of Silence
Please understand my reasons for not speaking today. I am participating in the Day Of Silence, a national youth movement protesting the silence faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people and their allies. My deliberate silence echoes that silence, which is caused by harassment, prejudice, and discrimination
Please, repost this if you are participating in the Day of Silence, wish to participate, or just support the cause of it.
