Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Monday spoke to university students about ''who was really involved" in the 9/11 attacks. He spoke about the way Iran was run and said two things that made the students laugh and boo, those being that the women in Iran enjoyed many freedoms and that there are no homosexuals like here in America.

Because of his view on the idea that there was no holocaust and his implied statements about taking Isreal 'off the map' has made Lee Bollinger (Columbia's president) remark that he felt Ahmadinejad was a 'petty and cruel dictator'.

"Let the people of Palestine freely choose what they want for their future," he said.

"His remarks, which lasted about an hour, made several general references to God, religion and science. He portrayed himself as an academic, misunderstood and unfairly criticized in the United States." -cnn online

"Blaming his schedule, Ahmadinejad left Columbia after his speech before answering many questions posed to him, Bollinger said." -cnn online

Iran is also said to be making more explosives and are manufacturing Uranium despite being told not to. He argues that they are peaceful and have not been using them against anyone. But it is said that these explosives are going to terrorists and Bollinger questioned hm why. Ahmadinejad would not give a straight answer.

He also wanted to make a trip to 'Ground Zero' to 'pay his respects' but growing tension and security issues kept him from doing so. When asked about his reasoning he stated that he felt he had a right to pay his respects to the victims of the attack.

He is also stating that the terrorist problems lie in Afghanistan and that Iran and Iraq are brother nations and do not need the interference of US gvt because our ways of dealing with things are wrong to them and much different from how they would handle things.

2007-09-27 [Molly Louise]: That's just a touchy situation in general. Is he giving bombs and explosives to terrorists? If he is, does somebody step in and say that's not right, that's just furthing the violence in the Middle East and the world?

2007-09-29 [My Own Darc Nightmare]: That's the rumor. That he's supplying them with some nucs or bombs of some sort. But, who are we to say what countries can and can't do. Being a democratic society, shouldn't we stick with the 'freedom' idea and let them govern themselves?

2007-10-24 [Cadet]: If you go for that stand point of letting countries govern themselves then we really have no business in Iraq because they were governing themselves, just not the way we would like.

2007-10-27 [My Own Darc Nightmare]: I don't want to talk about Iraq.
