AC/DC is a perfect first for Rock Band. The legendary band's "Let There Be Rock" on Rock Band 2 was just a teaser. The real deal comes in the form of 18 live tracks available exclusively from Wal-Mart in the form of a "full" game. AC/DC Live: Rock Band Track Pack on PS2 isn't really a "track pack" as advertised. There is no option to export these tracks to play in Rock Band, so this is a full-fledged stand-alone game.

As a stand-alone game, AC/DC Live is pretty pathetic. This is about as bare-bones as it gets. There is no true World Tour mode, no challenges, and no online play. You can play (solo or as a band) through a list of 18 AC/DC live tracks, but there are none of the bells and whistles from Rock Band. You don't even get the extra cheats from Rock Band 2, such as the ability to turn on "No fail."

Let's go in-depth with the character creator. When you start AC/DC Live, you can give your rocker a name. And that is a detailed tour of the customization features in AC/DC Live. Your rocker's appearance is randomly generated and the rewards you get for completing songs is, well, nothing. No cash (because there's no in-game store to dress up your random character's look) and nothing to unlock.

Internet Reviews:

The biggest strike against AC/DC Live is that it's just too expensive for what you get. It's too bad, because this is a fantastic set of songs. If you can't live without AC/DC, then pick this up now. Otherwise, I'd wait for an eventual price drop. Or better yet, spend the extra $20 to get Rock Band 2 in December.
