Chain Messages

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_div.png>

Seems like some people simply can't understand that chain-messages are unwanted. Don't send them! Grow up! This is not a site for stupid kids, we expect you to behave maturely (even if you're 10).

Note: A chain-message is something like this:
You have just been kissed! "Mwah!!" This is the start of Kiss War'04 Kiss Everyone that deserves a Kiss ! Now U must send this to: 0 people-U will have bad luck in love, 5 people- Your crush will like u, 10 people- You will go out wit your Crush, 20 people- U will make out wit your Crush, 35 people- You Will MarryYour Crush!

It should be quite obvious that these messages will only make people irritated, and if they are allowed to spread, your message-box will very quickly be filled with that crap.

And if you think that "I didn't start it!" is a good excuse, we'll show you how the banning works. It works pretty well.

Chain messages rules

Here are some simple rules that will help you see through a message.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 1) If it says that you should send something to some other people, it's a lie.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 2) If it says that something good will come out of it, it's a lie.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 3) If the letter clearly says that 1 and 2 does not apply to that letter, it's a lie.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 4) No, there are no exceptions.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 5) If there is one single letter that actually does break these rules, it's because you are fooled.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 6) The risk that someone that you send the chain message to will be irritated and start to dislike you is more than 90%.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 7) The risk that something bad will happen to you if you don't send copies of the message is 0%.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 8) The risk that you get banned from Elfpack when refusing to stop sending them is 100%.

Gah, someone sent me a chain message!

The best response is to write a message back:

Chain messages are not wanted on Elfpack. See [Chain Messages@wiki] for more explanations. If you continue to send chain messages after receiving this warning, the [Guards@wiki] will ban you.

Then write a guard-report by pressing "send report to the guards" in the member's house. Please DON'T include the letter itself in the report, just the messagenumber will do.

2006-07-05 [Harlequin HØllywood]: i cant stand chain letters cuz they just take up space and are a waste of time

2006-08-06 [FireGypsy]: lol I cant believe how many morons actually think they work! XD

2006-08-06 [Hedda]: Well, the thing is that they think that there is a tiny little chance that they work. And as they don't want to take an risk, they terrorise others.

That's why we have to show them that the risk they take by sending them is much higher than the risk they take when not sending them.

2006-08-06 [FireGypsy]: Lol its so silly! I have never ever ever sent a chain message in my life! I just never beleived enough to bother!

2006-11-22 [Wendy]: Ack! I should have known that making a an official Elfpack MySpace would prompt more chain messages on here! >_<,

2006-11-22 [Wendy]: I confess that I have sent a few chain messages. Ha ha ha! Sometimes I found them to be uplifting or amusing. Not any more, though. I take sick pleasure in reporting people on Gaia Online for doing so.

2006-11-22 [Sunrose]: Hmm I don't think it's because Elfpack is on MySpace now.
The problem is that if one person sends one, it spreads like a virus.

2006-11-22 [Hedda]: The problem is that new people have arrived at Elfpack and they haven't been told to fight chainmessages yet.

2006-11-22 [FireGypsy]: Happy Birthday Big Boy!!! *is a birthday stalker*

2007-08-15 [LittleMissMyHAN]: I don't actual chain mail but I am notorious for reposting anything I find really funny ><

2013-01-24 [Schlachter]: Please link to or attach Spamming. This is just one form of spam & others have started showing up: invites, votes, notifications, alarms, etc.
