Crimson Lines

She sat quietly at the dinner table with the other mutants gently touching her arms running the tips of her fingers along the freshly made lines on her arm. She wondered when she would stop or if she would ever stop at all. It just seemed to blend in with daily life with her and it had become a part of her, something that she couldn’t or at least wouldn’t live without. She stood up after touching a little bit of her food and excused herself from the table walking quickly up to her room,
it’s been awhile…he’s not coming back…just face it. She lay out on her bed just staring at the ceiling for awhile sighing heavily and wondering just where everything went wrong. Rogue hoped desperately that it was Logan returning finally.
Logan pulled into the driveway shutting off the bike and looking up at the mansion, wow I never thought I would be back here. He hopped off of the bike and walked inside looking around for a few minutes then smiled more when he saw Rogue bound down the stairs, she gets more beautiful every time I come back here, he wrapped his arms around her tightly when she ran over and hugged him.
“Logan! You’re back!” Rogue giggled as she hugged him tightly then winced lightly and pulled away quickly as she felt the cuts on her arm open up again.
Logan frowned a little when she pulled away suddenly and when he smelled some blood, but he quickly shrugged that off just assuming that it was probably her time of the month, “Hey Rogue. Yea I’m back but you know as well as I do it won’t be forever though. Well it might be I’m not quite sure yet all depends on how it pans out here.”
Rogue nodded and smiled, “That’s great, but I gotta go.” She darted back upstairs and to her room quickly pulling up her sleeves and grabbing a towel putting pressure on the cut to stop the bleeding. She finally got the bleeding to stop and pulled her sleeves back down. She looked over at her little black box and gently closed it. Rogue had always promised herself that when Logan was around she wouldn’t touch her box and she wouldn’t cut. Then again he always knew what to say to keep her calm and to make everything just seem right with the world, but this time seemed to be just a bit different and she couldn’t put her finger on it. She smiled as she placed the box under her pillow and headed back downstairs to hang out with Logan while he was still here.
“You ok kid?” Logan raised a brow at Rogue when she bounced back down the stairs.
Rogue nodded, “Yea Logan I’m fine.” She smiled so she could hide her dark secret. Rogue didn’t want to worry Logan with her petty problems. Logan nodded slightly knowing that there was something bothering her, but he just couldn’t quite place it.
Logan glanced at the clock noticing it was time for classes to begin, “Goin’ to class today, kid?”
Rogue eeped and jumped realizing that she was late for gym, “Yea I am. Sorry gotta rush I’m so fucking late.” She quickly ran to her class dreading every step she took. She normally went to all her classes, but she had been skipping gym lately. The other students they just didn’t understand her and they weren’t exactly the nicest group either. Even Bobby, the boy who at one time was infatuated with her and her boyfriend, joined in the mocking and jeering at her just because of her power. She really couldn’t understand what had happened. Everything was fine ‘til that one night she had accidently used her power on Logan. But that was just the first downhill battle for her. At the time Bobby still wanted her and was able to look past all the other students and ignore them, but then…who really knows, he just all of a sudden didn’t want her. Rogue frowned as she walked outside joining the other students on the grass and of course they all immediately moved away from her like she was a walking plague, but they knew as well as anyone that she had gained control of her powers thanks to Xavier. They whispered and she knew it was her they whispered about.
“Hey freak! You’re little boy-toy has returned gonna drain him this time too?” One of the girls snapped at her laughing and giggling along with the others. Rogue just looked at the grass ignoring them as she gently touched her arm. She shook her head,
no I won’t I promised myself…I wouldn’t not while Logan was here…I’ll just go to him and spend time and this will all just go away, she thought to herself as she abruptly pulled her arms to her side and looked up at Beast who had walked over to her.
“You ok Rogue?” Beast asked concerned for her.
Rogue shook her head, “No…I’m feeling a little sick…,” she looked up hoping he bought her little white lie. Beast nodded and told her to go lay down. Rogue got up and headed towards her room not realizing that she had walked by Logan. Logan frowned as she walked by;
hmmm I thought she was supposed to be going to class? Maybe I’ll go see what’s buggin’ her, he thought as he quietly followed her.
