2009-06-25 [Hedda]: I think that thinking about this question is more interesting than what-ever the answers will be. At least it made me think, and I kind of realize that I don't really do what I want to.
2009-06-25 [Hedda]: I would like to combine g, h, i and j if I could. Maybe I should start playing an educational game in Spanish...
2009-06-29 [Shatureel]: LOL, that would be interesting. I would like to combine g, i, and j, that would be the perfect combo for me.
2009-06-29 [Hedda]: I just watched as Google Talk about how much smarter one can become just by playing the right kind of games/exercise
The talk is not so good though, so I'll not search for it.
But the trick they used is to play happy sounds and such every time you get something right. And you get to train stuff like holding 4 instructions at a time in your head.
The speaker pointed out one problem in particular: When a problem student hear his/her parents talk, it's 2 times of 3 something about that he/she has done something bad. When a good student hear from the parents, it's something about that they are good 6 times out of 7. No wonder the bad students don't care to listen.
The trick is to give the bad students a computer that is always nice to them, even though it pushes them in the right direction. And the computer never says "Damn, you're stupid!" when it gets tired of the moron... And the moron eventually become pretty smart.
2009-06-29 [Hedda]: With the right kind of games: Play games that train what you want to be able to do and play games that are challenging! If you can play Tetris while talking to people, then it's not learning your brain to learn. If you haven't played Tetris before, then it's good to try it out for an hour or so.
And it's recommended to do something physical too. I use a unicycle. That's fun and challenging. If I can ride that in 40 years time, I don't have to worry about losing my balance.
2009-06-30 [Shatureel]: I agree, the right kind of games do help to make you smarter and quicker. Its like music, how we learn all the words to the songs that we like. If schools adopted gaming and music to teach, I believe kids would learn at a much faster rate and enjoy it at the same time. If you enjoy what you are doing, if its fun and exciting, you want to do more of it.
That's true cause a computer does not discriminate, only humans do that. Its sad when a parent tells their child they are no good, or they are stupid, instead of trying to help they hinder that child. We all learn differently, at our own pace. Just cause one cannot grasp what is being taught does not mean they are stupid, It just means that they need to be taught a different way that will benefit them in learning and does not make them feel like they are worth nothing. If told all your life you are no good, you will never amount to anything, you will believe that. But if told you are good and you are encouraged to keep at it, you will excel in what ever you chose to do in life.
That's cool, if you can keep your balance on a unicycle it will help you in the long run. Doing something physical is always good, be it jogging, walking your dog, blading, riding a bicycle, dancing, or riding a unicycle. In the end it helps your body to keep active.
2009-07-02 [kittykittykitty]: Learning stuff \o/ Wikipedia is your friend
2009-07-08 [Lady Kari]: Ha ha ha, that's great, Hedda. :-) (About the unicycle.)
Seeing the number one most popular activity in the results (i) makes me sad. :-( Now this is subjective, but it seems like a lot of people waste their time doing nothing. The saddest part to me is that this activity isn't even important enough to waste so much of their time. :-/ But do keep in mind that this is just an opinion. I suppose I'm just in the opinion that some people spend way too much of their time trying to find something to entertain them rather than doing something a little more constructive, or so it seems to me based on the results from this poll.
Regardless, it's a good poll. :-) Thanks for staying hard at work to please your demanding audience. ;-)
2009-07-09 [Nekko fox]: Games are a close second for a reason.
2009-07-17 [kittykittykitty]: It's kinda funny how so many more people chose internet/game related things than actually going out xD
but I guess that's why they were on EP at the time :9
2009-07-19 [Nekko fox]: Totally!
2010-01-31 [GlassCasket]: Why isn't playing with yourself an option?
..........what
2010-02-25 [由貴瑛里 // вεcкч ♥]: one of the answers should have been "doing this poll"
