Grudges, guilt, and regret Tax the heart causing debt, Building interest over time, Spirit damage thus sublime. Let go of grudges and forgive. Be filled with Love, be free to live. Truth and virtue for self seek. Words of kindness freely speak. Take not for granted, today you've got, But come tomorrow it may or may not. |

Poet note: When we hold onto grudges, we are then nurturing bitterness and resentment in our heart. When we are harbouring a guilty conscience because of something or things we know we've done wrong, we become defensive and even hostile for fear our wrongs will be discovered. When we hesitate and/or procrastinate in doing something we wanted to or meant to, like telling someone we Love how much they mean to us or burying the hatchet with someone, and the chance is never afforded us again, we are then left with regret. All of these, grudges, guilt, and regret, produce negative energy, a darkness within us, which places undue stress on our overall health as well. Therefore, it's in our own best interests as well as others, if we stop trying to cram the toothpaste back into the tube, and let go of grudges. What's been done can seldom be undone, but both parties can see it as a learning experience, acknowledge there's some fault on both sides, even if there was just some misunderstandi case, apologise, and move on as hopefully better individuals. We all make mistakes, make bad judgment calls, from time to time. “It is not our mistakes that make us less. It is our lack of acknowledgment and to confess.” ~ Quotes-By-Artsieladie Guilt can be alleviated by owning up to one's mistakes. It may be difficult to take the leap, but the freedom one feels afterward is unmeasurable. A person who owns up to their mistakes deserves much more respect than one who is too cowardly to. If other people can't accept one's confession, then it is their problem. They should remember they aren't perfect either. Regret can be kept at a minimum if we make it a point to live in the here and now, live like there is no tomorrow, and then we won't be so likely to put things off until tomorrow, a day that is never promised or guaranteed. Tell those you Love that you Love them. Don't just assume they know. They may not be sure. They may not know. ♥ |
