HOW THE NIGHT WORLD CAME INTO EXISTENCE.
The witch people of the tribe of Maya and Hellewise could summon animals from the forest or influence changes in the weather. In this tribe lived the twin daughters of Hecate, Maya and Hellewise. The sisters were stunningly beautiful but as different as night and day. The tribe knew Maya was doing experiments in the forest to find the spell for immortality. However, nobody believed she would harm the tribe.
Maya was underestimated though, because she did find the spell and to do it, she had to steal four babies from the tribe and drink their blood. Maya disappeared after stealing the babies. The tribe found the bled out bodies of the babies. It was then that Hellewise vowed to punish her sister for what she had done.
Maya reappeared one night and visited Theorn, a boy from her tribe. Maya told him that she loved him and wanted to make him immortal like her. Without warning, she ripped his throat out. She then proceeded to exchange blood with him.
Now a vampire and afraid of what he had become, Theorn ran away from the tribe. Confused and desperate to satisfy the burning hunger he felt, Theorn pounced on the first human he found – a little girl from a nearby village.
Sick with having done that, Theorn succumbed to the village hunters, who jabbed him with spears. They realised no matter how many times he was speared, this creature would not die. The fearful village people locked Theorn up until the shaman of the village could assess him.
Late that night, Hana of the Three Rivers, a girl from the village, took pity on Theorn and went to release him before the village hunters could kill him. Moved by the guilt she saw in his eyes, Hana told Theorn to escape before the village hunters came to check up on him. But before he could escape, the village hunters captured Theorn.
The hunters attacked Theorn repeatedly with their spears. In a quick rage, Theorn lashed out at everybody trying to hurt him. From one throat to another, Theorn attacked them all. In a daze, he looked down at his latest victim. Hana, the girl who had tried to save him, was lying limp in his arms. In his mind, Theorn could hear her shock as well as her forgiveness. He laid Hana to rest and ran to find some salvation.
Theorn approached Hellewise. He pleaded for her to help Hana. Hellewise was able to cast a spell on Hana so that she would be reborn in another life time. Theorn also asked Hellewise to put him to sleep until Hana was born again.
Thousands of years passed whilst Theorn slept. During this time, there was an epic duel between Maya and Hellewise, where Hellewise drove Maya and her vampires out of the village. When Theorn woke up, he was now Thierry Descouedres. Thierry saw that a new civilisation was in order, now with the Night World in existence.
HARMAN AND REDFERN LINEAGE TREE.
Hecate, the Witch Queen, had two daughters. Hellewise is the ancestress of all witches while Maya is the ancestress of all vampires.
Maya had a son named Red Fern. Red Fern was a lamia. This meant he could have children who would be born as vampires.
Hunter Redfern had a son, Chervil Redfern, before he married Maeve Harman. Chervil himself had a son, Tormentil Redfern, who then had Delos Redfern. Delos is fully lamia while the daughters Hunter had with Maeve were part lamia, part witch.
The oldest daughter of Hunter and Maeve, Garnet Redfern, was raised as a vampire and she continued the Redfern line. Therefore, every Redfern after her is a descendant of hers (except Delos and his line of course) and is also therefore, part witch, part lamia. This includes Ash Redfern and his sisters.
The youngest daughter of Hunter and Maeve, Roseclear Harman, was raised as a witch and continued the witch line. Descendants of Roseclear are also part witch, part lamia. This includes Edgith Harman and Thea Harman.
When Edgith was still just a child, she was separated from her younger sister Elspeth and her twin brother Emmeth before the First World War. This is why the descendants of the latter two are lost Harmans. This obviously includes Iliana Dominick and Gillian Lennox. Now, you may be wondering why the younger siblings of Edgith are great-grandpar
ents whereas Edgith is just a grandparent. This could be because Edgith had her children when she was older and then her children had their children when they were older.
Notice that the line connecting Sylvia Weald to Galen Harman is in a different colour. This is because their connection is only a guess on my part. With witches, the last name is determined from the maternal side. This is why Sylvia is not a Harman but a Weald – because her father was a Harman, not her mother. Sylvia is the cousin of Thea and Blaise Harman, making her a grandchild of Edgith, and, since Edgith only had one son, Galen, it makes sense that they are father and daughter.
Also note that Gary Fargeon has descended from Emmeth. Therefore, he does not carry the Harman name. Gillian on the other hand has descended from Elspeth, so, although everybody calls her a Lennox, she is very much a true Harman. The same applies to Iliana.
ORAGANISATIONS OF THE NIGHT WORLD
Circle Daybreak:
Circle Daybreak started out as an organisation for witches but over time it has come to encompass humans, vampires, shape-shifters, and anybody else who is willing to help Night People get along with humans.
The main objective of Circle Daybreak is to help the Night World and the human world unite and live in peace with each other.
Many Night People who have broken Night World law by falling in love with a human have become Circle Daybreakers. But, because these Night People have broken the sacred laws of the Night World, they are constantly targeted for assassination by other Night People.
Circle Daybreak is actively involved in finding the Wild Powers and convincing them to help save the human world from destruction. Circle Daybreak has so far found and convinced three of the four Wild Powers to work with them. These Wild Powers are kept in safe houses and Circle Daybreak agents must protect them from thugs hired by the Night World.
Circle Midnight:
The witches of the Night World formerly belonged to either Circle Twilight or Circle Midnight. In the past, witches had to make a decision as to which Circle they would permanently belong to when they turned eighteen.
The witches of Circle Midnight were notorious for using their powers to gain personal benefits, even if this meant hurting others in the process.
Today, most of the witches have seceded from the Night World. Many have followed their Maiden, Mother, and Crone and have joined another Circle, called Circle Daybreak. Only the darkest witches of Circle Midnight still belong to the Night World. These witches no longer answer to the Inner Circle; they are governed by the Night World Council.
Circle Twilight:
The witches of the Night World formerly belonged to either Circle Twilight or Circle Midnight. In the past, witches had to make a decision as to which Circle they would permanently belong to when they turned eighteen.
The witches of Circle Twilight were known to use their powers for the greater good.
Today, most of the witches have seceded from the Night World. Many have followed their Maiden, Mother, and Crone and have joined another Circle, called Circle Daybreak.
First House of the Shape-shifters:
The Drache family forms the First House of the Shape-shifters. They are the rulers of all shape-shifters, including the werewolves and the panthers. This royal family are the only shape-shifters according to historical writings, to still have dragon blood running through their veins.
The ancient dragons are the strongest shape-shifters, having powers no other shape-shifting animal can possess, such as the ability to shape-shift into any animal form. Even though the witches put the dragons to sleep over thirty thousand years ago, the Drache family still possess some of the powers of dragons – in diluted form however. The Drache children, for example, have the choice to choose which animal they would like to call. They also have telepathy; the ability to connect with any animal mind. This is because members of the Drache family are the descendants of the only dragon that was left awake by the witches. This dragon was a young Princess.
Inner Circle:
The witches of the Night World are governed by the Inner Circle. The Inner Circle consists of respected members of the witch community. The three highest ranking positions of the Inner Circle are Crone, Mother, and Maiden, respectively. The Crone of the witches was Edgith Harman, the oldest descendant of the Harman family. But since her death, Mother Cybele has become the leader of the witches.
The Inner Circle is responsible for ensuring that witches uphold Night World law. This authoritative body also makes decisions and imposes punishments.
The darkest witches of the Night World recognise the Night World Council – not the Inner Circle – as their leaders.
Night World Council:
Previously, the Night World Council was the joint ruling body for all vampires and witches. But now that the witches have seceded from the Night World, the Council is the authoritative body for all vampires and only the darkest witches who still belong to the Night World.
All Night People are bound by serious laws and when these laws are broken, the Night World Council is responsible for punishing those responsible. The Council also ‘cleans up’ the mess made by their disobedient people. For example, if a Night Person has told any humans about the Night World, the Council has these humans killed.
The Council will do anything to cover up the existence of the Night World. They also have elders who make sure that Night World laws are being strictly followed by Night People.
The Lancers:
The Lancers are a group of vampire hunters. The East Coast organisation was established by a teenage boy named Elliot. The organisation is very successful. Some of the members of this group however, endorse torturing of vampires.
