Lincoln is the title of the second album released by They Might Be Giants. The title refers to the birthplace of both Johns, Lincoln Massachusetts. The album was released by Bar/None and Restless Records on September 25, 1988. The album cover features John Flansburgh's maternal grandfather, Brigadier General Ralph Hospital, as well as John Linnell's great-grandfat
her, Lewis T. Linnell.
The album spent 19 weeks on what is now the Billboard 200, peaking at #89. Three singles ("Ana Ng", "Purple Toupee" and "They'll Need a Crane") were released; "Ana Ng" spent 11 weeks on the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart, peaking at #11.
