Elfpack is a site that you can use for free to meet other members from all over the globe and there is no need to pay anything more than tip. Other sites, like match.com demands a big payment and it uses really really evil methods. This is from the news:

Match.com is accused in a federal lawsuit of goading members into renewing their subscriptions through bogus romantic e-mails sent out by company employees. In some instances, the suit contends, people on the Match payroll even went on sham dates with subscribers as a marketing ploy. 

"This is a grossly fraudulent practice that Match.com is engaged in," said H. Scott Leviant, a lawyer at Los Angeles law firm Arias, Ozzello & Gignac LLP, which brought the suit.

So... Next time you get pissed because Elfpack doesn't allow you to have 11 images in your presentation (but unlimited number of images in your wikis) then please put this in some perspective and remember that the rest of the net sucks...

But because Elfpack doesn't scam its members, we just don't have a marketing budget, so it's up to you if you want more members here. Please keep on linking to Elfpack from every blog and forum you can think of! ;-)

Elfpack's member-database crashed this morning and Elfpack has been down for a couple of hours.

Some members seem to have been lost. I don't know if I can do anything about it, but let me know, and I'll see what I can do. If you ask me to restore you, please find out your member-number (By looking at wiki-pages you have edited, ask the ones who have got messages from you or something like that. You'll see the member-number in the links to your house.)

I'll see what I can do to generally fix this now.

Update: Saved members:
[EmO GuRl] [gonner] [Pink_Princess] [newcastle] [Lord Starscream] [ScWuB x3]. These members now have an old presentation, but at least they can access their messages and stuff.

New members that couldn't be save:

These members just have to recreate their presentations. They are all pretty new here, and that's the reason why they couldn't be save.

It's unfortunately impossible to tell why the database crashed. Nothing is wrong with the computer as far as I can tell.

Update2: Don't worry about the future though! Now the member-database will be backupped every day. Messages and the wiki will be backuped more seldom, but those tables just don't crash in the same way.
