[Dacian Pack Wolven Behavior]

I would really appreciate it if everyone
would read over what I am posting here.
I see this pack running a certain way
and would like that clear with everyone
that plans on joining. I don't mean to
come off as bosy or bitchy, but well, I've
had an obsession with wolves for a long
time and I know that there are certain
behaviors, very unlike human contact. I
would just like to have everyone on the
same page. After you've read this and
understand what I am looking for, you
may post and try to gain entrance into the
pack if you still wish. If you have any
questions, ask them on here! Thank you all!!

The Drappa and Dragga are the Alpha's, the leaders of the Pack.
The Sita and Tsarr are the seconds, stepping in for the Alpha's when need be.
The Slavka and Kosov are the thirds of the pack, higher up on the "chain".
The Lera and Varg are challengers to the Alpha's, looking for a time to take over.
The Balkar is the protector of the pack, a peacemaker.
The Tsinga is the wisewoman/man, usually older, not necessarily a wolf.
The Putnar is the Protector of the Alpha's, the Enforcer of sorts.
The Sikla is the omega, the lowest in the pack, normally because they're submissive.
The Kerl is a rouge wolf, may come around the pack now and then or not yet accepted in.

The Pack
The Dragga and Drappa (Male and Female) sort of run the pack. They
decide where it is best for the pack to live, to
hunt, and they are the ultimate breeders. They may
choose to let some of the higher up wolves breed
as well as themselves, but most children come from
the Dragga and Drappa. Now, they don't have to be
the strongest, fastest or largest wolves. Normally
they are the smarter of the wolves, the ones that
have tendancies to be dominant creatures. They will
seek dominance over others, expecting the pack to
submit to them.

The Sita and Tsarr (Female and Male)are the ones that look after the
pack when the Dragga and Drappa are away, the Drappa
is in the birthing den, and so on. They are natural
leaders as well but do submit to the Dragga and Drappa.

The Slavka and Kosov (Female and Male) are just wolves higher up on the
chain. Normally they're good hunters, relatively good
fighters and have a tendancies towards dominance but
know their place below the seconds and firsts.

The Lera and Varg (Female and Male) are the wolves that are very dominant
and looking for the right time to challenge the Dragga
and Drappa for their positions. These wolves work with
and for the pack, but are looking to fully lead it.

The rest seems very self expalanatory.

The Hunt
The Dragga and Drappa lead the hunts. The Dragga will
be the one to pick out which wolf will take the kill.
If that wolf falls they may be subject to lower rank
or even run out of the pack. All of the wolves work
together for ONE kill. They will attack the weak, old
and sickly since they're the easiest and my go days on
end without eating. Hunts are not always short and the
wolves are built for long distance runs. Although the
pack works together to take out the animal of choice,
the one chosen must be the one to take it down. If
another gets in the way, they may be the one to be lowered
or ran out. The Hunt is taken very seriuosly, especially
when pups are to be fed.

The Birthing Den
Only one other female wolf and the Drappa will be in the
birthing den. The Dragga will normally stand guard outside
and all the other wolves will be on high alert, making
sure that no predators are around and that there is plenty
of fresh meat for the new mother. Once the pups are born
the Dragga becomes extremely territorial and will not allow
many, or any, of the wolf pack to enter the den. Most of the
time the pups aren't seen by the others until they're able to
open their eyes and move around enough to follow their mother
to the mouth of the den. It's a very dangerous time for the
wolf pack, especially those low on the chain.

The Mating Season
This is a very touchy and complicated time. Normally it
occurs twice a year, in October and April normally. These
two times a year are dangerous for single female's and
there is subject to much change in the hierarchy of wolves.
Challenges and aggressive behavior show up quite often
during this time. The Lera and Varg are on high alert,
looking to make their step up around this time by mating with
either the Dragga or Drappa and taking the other places or
straight out fighting the Dragga or Drappa for a higher
position in the pack. The male wolves become extremely
agressive and on edge since the females are looking to mate.
Of course, the Dragga and Drappa control to some extent,
just who gets to do the mating.

Communication
Much of how wolves communicate with one another is through
body language. A dominant wolf will keep their ears high and
tail up. When encountering a submissive or lower ranking wolf
they'll stand tall, tower over them and wait for a sign of
submission from them. If they don't get it, they may force it
through a look, a growl or hunching down like they're going
to attack.

A submissive wolf will keep his ears flat around the others
and his tail between his legs. When encountering a dominant
or higher ranking wolf they'll lick at their face, show their
stomach and neck, all the vulnerable places. They'll wait until
they're nuzzled or licked back as a sign that they've been
accepted by the higher ranking wolf.

This does not mean that one plays a better role in the pack.
Each wolf, dominant or submissive, helps to feed the pack,
take care of the young and protect them all. Each and every wolf
will mark their territory, letting other wolves and animals know
how many of them there are and just who's land it happens to be.

2009-07-22 [Zavier C.]: What did you change??

2009-07-22 [Product of a Primal Urge]: I just made a point of showing that Drappa, Sita, Slavka and Lera are female while Dragga, Tsarr, Kosov and Varg are males.

2009-09-09 [*Sony*]: is there an opening in the rp? =D

2009-09-09 [Zavier C.]: If I know Rayven, I'd say yeah. She should be on eventually. Normally she's on every day...

2009-09-09 [*Sony*]: she was on earlier i think... she messaged me. i shall wait for her return.

2009-09-09 [Zavier C.]: *smiles* Sounds like a good idea. It'll be nice to get yet another person on here!

2009-09-09 [*Sony*]: awesome.

2009-09-10 [Product of a Primal Urge]: Oh sure! Just jump right in by all means!! PM me if you'd like your wolf to already know me or something since they whole thing is crazy messy at the moment.

2009-09-26 [MadHatress]: QUESTION!!!
If the varg wanted to mate with the Drappa, wouldn't he have to challenge the Dragga?

2009-09-26 [Zavier C.]: Mm, probably. RAYVEN!!!

2009-09-26 [Product of a Primal Urge]: I'm right here, dickface, chillax. And DegFan, I'm going to go with yes. If any wolf from any rank wants to take a higher one already occupied they have to challenge that wolf. Of course, if no one is in that rank, just attempt to take it and the wolf in the opposing one may let you join them in rank. If that made sense...

2009-09-27 [Zavier C.]: Dickface...that's a new one...^.^

2009-09-27 [Product of a Primal Urge]: You're welcome! *tackle hug*

2009-09-27 [MadHatress]: OK that's what I thought and wanted to make sure I understood correctly.
