Chain Messages

Seems like some people simply can't understand that chain-messages are unwanted. Don't send them! Grow up! This is not a site for stupid kids, we expect you to behave maturely (even if you're 10).

Note: A chain-message is something like this:
You have just been kissed! "Mwah!!" This is the start of Kiss War'04 Kiss Everyone that deserves a Kiss ! Now U must send this to: 0 people-U will have bad luck in love, 5 people- Your crush will like u, 10 people- You will go out wit your Crush, 20 people- U will make out wit your Crush, 35 people- You Will MarryYour Crush!

It should be quite obvious that these messages will only make people irritated, and if they are allowed to spread, your message-box will very quickly be filled with that crap.

And if you think that "I didn't start it!" is a good excuse, we'll show you how the banning works. It works pretty well.

Chain messages rules

Here are some simple rules that will help you see through a message.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 1) If it says that you should send something to some other people, it's a lie.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 2) If it says that something good will come out of it, it's a lie.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 3) If the letter clearly says that 1 and 2 does not apply to that letter, it's a lie.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 4) No, there are no exceptions.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 5) If there is one single letter that actually does break these rules, it's because you are fooled.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 6) The risk that someone that you send the chain message to will be irritated and start to dislike you is more than 90%.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 7) The risk that something bad will happen to you if you don't send copies of the message is 0%.

<img:stuff/aj/28425/book_blue_blob.png> 8) The risk that you get banned from Elfpack when refusing to stop sending them is 100%.

Gah, someone sent me a chain message!

The best response is to write a message back:

Chain messages are not wanted on Elfpack. See [Chain Messages@wiki] for more explanations. If you continue to send chain messages after receiving this warning, the [Guards@wiki] will ban you.

Then write a guard-report by pressing "send report to the guards" in the member's house. Please DON'T include the letter itself in the report, just the messagenumber will do.

2005-08-11 [-~PrettyinPink~-]: I HATE EM!!!..there pointless

2005-08-11 [Sethius]: If you print all chain letters out and wear the product as clothes, can it be called chain mail?

2005-08-11 [So-Called Chaos]: Only if you're the guy on the motorcycle. The one who puts his girlfriend on a bike with no helmet.

2005-08-11 [herfherder]: I had a chain mail once...bloody heavy. How the hell does all that weight not break your in box??

2005-08-11 [Fistandantilus]: chain messages on elftown is a nominal but weak statement...i think you should be meaner about it...alot meaner...

2005-08-11 [frecklefied]: yea i just signed on yahoo...guess what i got? 11 new chain mail. Joy of joys. All from the same person too.

2005-08-11 [Kaos101]: what's that persons name? I want to flame them really bad

2005-08-11 [k25]: chain letters suck so bad!!

2005-08-11 [¿thomas?]: hmmm [shygurl] were u sirios

2005-08-12 [¿thomas?]: heh

2005-08-12 [Self Immolation]: i got a chain letter in the mail once, i threw it out.

2005-08-12 [EmO GuRl]: am so fukin sik ov des lil chain messages a read thm n dnt do anythin itz jst sad lil ppl sendin sad lil thing SAD SAD SAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2005-08-12 [shygurl]: these rules are shity....if some ppl like the chain letters i think yall should put it in your desription....and let us other ppl who do believe in them believe in them

2005-08-12 [shygurl]: and to me the chain letters that i have sent have come true.....and to tell you the truth i didnt send one, one time i had bad luck for 3 months my parents got a divorce for one and i had a hard descion to make but i also had my friends to help me....just because you hate them doesnt mean we have to stop doing something we like to do ....

2005-08-12 [shygurl]: yes i was very serios

2005-08-12 [¿thomas?]: why would you like to do them? for false hope and clear anoyance? it should be illigall on many different things like messengers. on Yahoo im if ppl send to many chain messeges a day it will slow down and or glitch the program. they are uneeded form of trying to 'solve' some thing that could also be solved with will...

2005-08-12 [Amalaswinta]: this set of rules is the result of a Mainstuff poll, where almost everyone voted against chain messages

2005-08-12 [vampyre]: sorry i dent no

2005-08-12 [Amalaswinta]: [over the edge]: even though I agree with you, everyone's entitled to their opinion. Just not through loads of messages to people you don't know..

2005-08-12 [over the edge]: [shygurl], I now badly want to flame you. Chain messages are all fake. It was some conincidence that you "had bad luck". But I don't really believe in luck. You have no say whatsoever in your parents divorcing, and it takes more than 3 months for people to stop loving eachother. I think you have some sort of denial issue that the chain message was somehow related to that. No one likes chain messages. If they were real, who would want to "die frum nt snding ths 2 so mny ppl"...? People send me messages on Yahoo about how they're deleting accounts, and if I don't send the message I will be deleted. I try to explain to them that accounts to be deleted will be contacted by Yahoo staff...

2005-08-12 [shygurl]: you dont always get false hope....well like i said if you dont like them, say so on your house.......not if you send ones that have viruses.....well i am not one of those ppl who voted against it......i voted for it......well that is why you only send them to ppl you do know......duh

2005-08-12 [over the edge]: and that it causes glitches when they send it... Sorry I had to delete that a bajillion times, I kept accidentally hitting the send button xD

2005-08-12 [over the edge]: duh? If we all sent chain messages to people we did know, then everyone would have multiple messages...

2005-08-12 [Amalaswinta]: xD

2005-08-12 [over the edge]: I'm done, now. Anyway, good job with everything, I'm going to use this Wiki when people send me chain messages. I'm off to sit in my corner and drink Arizona Green Tea.

2005-08-12 [Amalaswinta]: ^-^

2005-08-12 [¿thomas?]: you dont give false hope? so u dont when they promise u ull get uhm lett c money, luck, glamor, and money? so they dont give false hope? its basically trying to spread lies. if some one resends a chain msg and has a job and gets payd the next day the message didnt do anything to help there check.

2005-08-13 [shygurl]: no because what if they new ppl that the sender did not know......i dont do the money ones....i dont believe in the money they dont give false it is not spreading lies...:P.

2005-08-13 [MAX1M0 FAN7A571C0]: errr hi =)

2005-08-13 [¿thomas?]: Hi.... it is spreading hope, makeing that lack of will, ambition with love, and no work for self embetterment will still result in something if you send the message to another group of victims or should i say your friends list

2005-08-21 [2k7 michael loves kirsty2k7]: soz for it i thougtit was true

2005-08-27 [*~chicko~*]: sorry, i didn;t know.

2005-08-31 [kirst]: hey sorry i was just bored.

2005-08-31 [Shadow_Hands]: I juss did'nt want bad luck....

2005-09-08 [¿thomas?]: luck is sircumstancial to what dision you make at what time.

2005-10-27 [.x. Lil Lizzie .x.]: wow ok den i didnt no like

2005-11-23 [Mis-sxypink]: they r gay

2005-11-26 [~*Kita*~]: I hate chain messages... There SO fucking boreing, No? Well, That my oppion. ^^; SO yeah. o.o

2005-11-27 [devilshbaby666]: Thoses things get soooo annoying! God good those things sux!

2005-11-27 [Amalaswinta]: and to think that even with that HUGE annoying alarm message up, there are still people sending them.... *sigh*

2005-11-27 [Vampyre mistress]: i think u r all sad 4 havin an argument about it. who acctually likes gettin chain messages all the time? no one. end of argument. easy

2005-11-27 [Amalaswinta]: my point exactly

2005-11-27 [Elisa]: My opinion is, that chain messages are ONLY made up stories by someone who want to annoy others. There's no bad luck or less love in them, just a simple mean joke!! I HATE CHAIN MESSAGES!!!!! Thank you so much for helping us out with these problems!! YAY for the guards! *hugs them*

2005-11-28 [black n red roses]: yay for the guards for thinking of these annoying messages....i wont...*hug you* but ill say.....*thanks 'em*

2005-11-29 [Hedda]: [Elisa]: You're wrong. Of course chain messages bring bad luck. If you don't break the chain, you'll get banned from Elfpack.

2005-11-29 [Amalaswinta]: LOL!!!

2005-11-29 [pumpkin king]: now, that's really a bad luck.

2005-11-29 [Syn Serafim]: You know all that work for a chain message?? I never did understand it of course you're talking about a new generation of idiot children that believe everything they hear... Superstition is the biggest problem today... I'll never understand today's generation of children...

2005-11-29 [Amalaswinta]: just like earlier generations never understood their children, and like our children will never understand their children... ;-)

2005-11-30 [Syn Serafim]: Yep... I get it just the fact that they'd rather annoy those they don't know than to just forget about it. This is the reason why I got off AOL broadband...

2005-12-10 [Sky Chord]: well thats true

2005-12-16 [lizg]: Yeppers

2006-01-18 [im nick]: chain letters SUCK

2006-02-18 [i love matty]: he is a stoped boy band him plz

2006-03-16 [loverofvampires]: how do you get one of those warning things on top, the alarm or something to say i dont like chain messages

2006-03-21 [Hedda]: You don't need a comment about that. No sane Elfpacker likes chain messages.

2006-03-21 [Hedda]: And most insane members hate them too... ;-)

2006-04-02 [ZAK-DA-RIPPAH]: ur all sad freeks shut up!!!

2006-04-03 [S A M M Ii (=]: can you please un band matt911 thes sorry and he say it wont happen again

2006-04-03 [Sunrose]: He has been given a second chance, he better not send any chain messages again.

2006-04-06 [AnGeL of your nightmers]: i would like 2 report a chain message:[Hell Dragon]

2006-04-06 [Sunrose]: Report it on that members house by using the 'send report to Guards' button :)

2006-04-15 [Sandman666]: if u wanna post a chain message go to myspace

2006-04-24 [daniel ere]: i hate thge fukin things yaaaaaaayyyyyyy tank fuk there band and u lot who think thats a stupid idea bannin them  then theres only 1 thing 2 say fuk off!

2006-05-06 [*~* CJ LUBS U *~*]: ohhhh i get them too

2006-06-28 [kittykittykitty]: Soo... er, what happened to rule number 8?

2006-06-28 [Sunrose]: Fixed :)

2006-07-05 [Harlequin HØllywood]: i cant stand chain letters cuz they just take up space and are a waste of time

2006-08-06 [FireGypsy]: lol I cant believe how many morons actually think they work! XD

2006-08-06 [Hedda]: Well, the thing is that they think that there is a tiny little chance that they work. And as they don't want to take an risk, they terrorise others.

That's why we have to show them that the risk they take by sending them is much higher than the risk they take when not sending them.

2006-08-06 [FireGypsy]: Lol its so silly! I have never ever ever sent a chain message in my life! I just never beleived enough to bother!

2006-11-22 [Wendy]: Ack! I should have known that making a an official Elfpack MySpace would prompt more chain messages on here! >_<,

2006-11-22 [Wendy]: I confess that I have sent a few chain messages. Ha ha ha! Sometimes I found them to be uplifting or amusing. Not any more, though. I take sick pleasure in reporting people on Gaia Online for doing so.

2006-11-22 [Sunrose]: Hmm I don't think it's because Elfpack is on MySpace now.
The problem is that if one person sends one, it spreads like a virus.

2006-11-22 [Hedda]: The problem is that new people have arrived at Elfpack and they haven't been told to fight chainmessages yet.

2006-11-22 [FireGypsy]: Happy Birthday Big Boy!!! *is a birthday stalker*

2007-08-15 [LittleMissMyHAN]: I don't actual chain mail but I am notorious for reposting anything I find really funny ><

2013-01-24 [Schlachter]: Please link to or attach Spamming. This is just one form of spam & others have started showing up: invites, votes, notifications, alarms, etc.
